One thing about property out in the country is that it always seems to be changing. I know it’s my property because I can see the chicken and garden sheds in the backyard. But someone who has never seen our little slice of heaven before might think the spring branch was a flooded creek that, on normal days, would still be five feet wide. I remember stepping over that little branch this summer with one foot firmly planted the whole time.
It sure does look cold… but the turkeys don’t seem to mind much do they? You can see them in the upper right corner if you click on the picture above to enlarge it.

Below is a picture of the bridge going over Snake Creek, which borders one side of our property. The water subsided quickly after the flood so it doesn’t seem the bridge would be in much danger of getting washed out. Besides that, there’s another way out of the valley in the opposite direction. Wait another five years and I’ll be calling it a holler instead of a valley.
