As someone who almost built a house off the grid in the cloudy Pacific Northwest, and ended up buying the one next door that was on it, I agree with the sentiment "purists be damned" as would most of the other folks living out my way. Most of us are "off the grid" in one way or another, but we all appreciate the value of not being <i> totally<i> "on our own". I think you’re right on the money here.
